Spray Tanning

FAQs

What is spray tanning?

Spray tanning is a cosmetic process that involves applying a fine mist of tanning solution to the skin. The solution contains DHA (dihydroxyacetone), which interacts with the outer layer of your skin to create a natural-looking tan without sun exposure. Our solutions are top quality solutions with organic ingredients and none of our products are tested on animals.

How long does a spray tan last?

A spray tan typically lasts between 5 to 10 days, depending on your skin type, how well you follow aftercare instructions, and the natural exfoliation process of your skin.

How should I prepare for a spray tan?

To prepare for your spray tan, exfoliate your skin thoroughly 24 hours before your appointment, shave or wax at least 24 hours in advance, and avoid applying any lotions, oils, or deodorants on the day of your appointment. Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment. Check out our page on Spray tanning pre and aftercare for full details!

How long does a spray tan take?

The actual spray tanning process usually takes about 10-15 minutes. However, you should plan to spend additional time for consultation and any necessary touch-ups. All appointments are 30 minutes with the exception of bridal tans which are allocated a 45 minute appointment.

When can I shower after a spray tan?

This depends on the type of tan that you get. If you choose the express tan, you can rinse after 1-3 hours. If you choose a classic tan, you will shower after 6-8 hours or can sleep in it for a deeper colour. Your technician will advise you of the time you need to wait depending on the tan result that you need.

How much time should pass between sessions?

The ideal time is 10 days between tans, however, many people get them weekly. This is fine if the old tan is fully scrubbed off before getting a new one.

Can I swim or exercise after a tan?

It’s best to avoid swimming and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours after your spray tan. Excessive sweating and chlorine can affect the development and longevity of the tan. Chlorine will definitely strip your tan.

How do I maintain my spray tan?

Can I have a spray tan if I am pregnant?

If your doctor is happy for you to proceed then yes, you can have a spray tan when pregnant. We do many maternity shoot spray tans!

What if I have sensitive skin or allergies?

If you have sensitive skin or allergies, please inform us before your appointment. We can perform a patch test to ensure the tanning solution is suitable for your skin type. All of our solutions contain organic ingredients with no ‘nasties’.

Can I get a spray tan if I have sunburn?

It's best to wait until any sunburn or injury has healed before getting a spray tan. Applying a tan over damaged or sensitive skin can lead to uneven results and discomfort.

Will a spray tan protect me from UV rays?

No, a spray tan does not provide UV protection. It is essential to use sunscreen to protect your skin from sun exposure, even if you have a spray tan.

What do I wear to have a spray tan in?

We will provide you with a disposable G-string, hairnet and sticky feet (to protect your feet from tan), however, you should wear as little or as much as you are comfortable with. Anything goes! We advise against wearing a bra following your tan as it will rub the tan away.
